Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. Anne Burrell. Burrell is the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef for the Food Network, as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals concise easy-to-master techniques for home cooks in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious restaurants within New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy as well as competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was infatuated by food. Following her graduation with an English and Communication degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she was able to pursue her love of the business of restaurant by enroling as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America has been a great adventure. The Culinary Institute of the Americas was an excellent place to study. After graduating, chef Burrell lived in Italy for one year attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Also, she was employed at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) in Tuscany. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell is a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten the lives of children facing obstacles and is also a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador, where she promotes children with diabetes and awareness. She speaks about her cooking passion, and also shares her knowledge of the culinary world, as she regularly travels throughout the US in both her roles as speakers and mentors. Anne often has mentioned during her career in the kitchen she is incredibly fortunate to communicate with people what is essential to her.
